The sweeping hillside of Cedar Hill
lends its pastoral incline to many
traditional Central Park activities like
reading and sunbathing.
A favorite area for dog owners who
meet on the far northern peak of the
Hill it provides a wonderful view of
the lush green glade below.
True to its name the Hill is the home
to many red cedars that form a line
on its crest. It also supports a variety
of other evergreens including the
Norway spruce and pine.
At its southern perimeter lies the
gateway to this valley, the Glade Arch.
Supporting a wide roadway it originally
provided carriage traffic with a conduit
to Fifth Avenue.
