Looking very much like the Dairy, this
newcomer to Central Park, rests at the
northern shore of the Harlem Meer and
serves as the Upper Park's visitor center.
Named for the American newspaper editor,
the Center offers visitors and locals alike
free family and community programs year
round. Seasonal educational exhibits are
always on display in its Great Hall, while
nature classes are held upstairs for
children.
During the months of April through
October everyone can enjoy catch and
release fishing at the Meer by borrowing
a pole and unbarbed hooks free of charge
from the Discovery Center.
