Breast Augmentation
Breast enhancement or augmentation is one of the most
popular procedures which
women seek. It may enhance small breasts, fill out deflated
breasts after pregnancy,
and make breast size differences less. All of which may
bring a psychological boost to
women who are unhappy with this part of the figure
.
The procedure is done on an outpatient basis and usually under general
anesthesia.
A small incision must be made around the lower part of
the nipple, under the breast
or under the arm.
A pocket is designed under the breast tissue or more
commonly under the pectoral
muscle for the saline implant. There are some exceptions
of silicon gel filled implants
for those who participate in approved studies.
The initial discomfort
is controlled with oral pain medications. Other pain management options are available. Light activity is tolerated
in 1 week but no strenuous activity should be resumed for about 4 to 6 weeks.
The final results will not be apparent for 4 months.
