The Lake Inlet: C76
Just north of Gill Bridge 21 where the Gill empties into the Lake is a small inlet marked by a large fallen tree and beyond that tall grass and weeds. Hidden deep within the overgrowth in this area that was once an extension of the Lake is a sealed Cave with its large bedrock cover seen to the right above.
Created as a port of adventure for rowers who could leave their boats to explore the area, it added an unusual mystique to the Park experience. When the homeless and unsavory characters took refuge there at the turn of the century it became too dangerous to maintain, so it was sealed and the inlet was filled. Yet it remains a Park landmark and the area is still fun to explore.
