Wien Walk is the main pathway leading
from Scholars' Gate at the Grand Army
Plaza to the Central Park Wildlife Center.
The Walk is dedicated in memory to New York
philanthropist Lawrence A. Wien. His
home once overlooked what is now
Wien Walk when he resided at
785 Fifth Avenue.
It is probably the most traveled walkway
in the Park with attractions for Park visitors
that make it seem more like midway of an
amusement park.
Artists sit along the perimeter inviting
anyone that passes to have a likeness of
themselves drawn for a fee. Clowns sell
balloons and artists paint the
faces of children.
