The Mall is the central promenade into the heart of Central Park.
It is a grand walkway bordered on the
south end by the Olmsted Flower Bed which leads to Literary Walk and beyond
to the Naumburg Bandshell.
It is bordered on the north by the Terrace
Bridge the most ornate structure of its kind
in Central Park and Bethesda Terrace and ultimately the Lake.
The Mall is the singlely most active gathering
place in the Park and on weekdays its is
teeming with New York residents and
tourists who gather there to enjoy the
infectious activity and excitement. Skaters have dominated
the area of the Mall to the west of the Bandshell and skateboarders
and dance skaters can always be observed
working out their elaborate moves.
